Beihai Park

In September one of our weekend outings was a trip to Beihai Park. To get there we had to ride the subway for about a half hour and walk for 20 minutes. In the center of Beihai Park is a lake and in the middle of the lake is a island we had lots of fun riding a big chinese styled boat to and from the island. One of the other highlights of the trip was all get dressed up in emperal chinese costumes for a family picture complete with ancient chinese hats. There are many fun alleys with shops and restaraunts around the park that we enjoyed looking at as well.

In August Abi, Tesha, Dad, and I took a 3 day trip to Xian. We rode a over night sleeper train from Beijing to Xian. Abi and Tesha loved climbing up and down  the bunk beds and sleeping on the train. The day we got to Xian we went to see the Terracotta Warriors. The Terracotta Warriors are statues of ancient warriors built by the Emperor of the time. After the Emperor died the peasants revolted and destroyed all the statues. Over 2,000 warriors have been found and unearthed. But only one whole one has been found. We saw three digs where they're working to uncover  the warriors, and a farmer who first found the Terracotta Warriors while building a well.
